Look at your screen. Now look up. Now look back at your screen. BEHOLD it is the VIEW FROM THE LAKE. Look down. Now look right, now BACK at your screen. Nothing has changed but if you followed my instructions, we know what kind of person you are.

Welcome back to those who have come before and welcome to those just joining us. We are Alban Lake Publishing and this is our nearly monthly newsletter detailing the fun things and happenings at and about our little company.

Read along, won’t you?

Updated Sites!

We have new sites. Check ‘em out here and here.

What? You want more? They’re updated sites! They’re more functional, prettier, and flow better. It’s always a work in progress with websites and design and now there’s new stuff. There’s not much to talk about, just go and look.

I SAID GO LOOK.

Meet the New Editors

We have two new editors here at the Lake, in order to help read through more submissions and keep our happy little websites neat, clean, and readable. Please, go and welcome them on the editor’s page and send them some love on our Discord where they can often be found making trouble and fun in equal parts.

Author Code Changes

With the new set up for the bookstore, we are updating how author coupons work. If you have a personalized author code, you can now use a version of that for all the magazines and anthologies you’re featured in. Simply add the letters ‘mag’ to the end of your code. The code as is, is still for your actual novels and novellas.

If you don’t have a personal author code and would like one assigned to you, simply drop us a line at [email protected] and we’ll get that set up for you.

Each anthology and periodical will still have its own code so these personalized codes are not required but they may be more useful for those of you who are featured in multiple books.

Our First Audio Download

Thanks to some encouragement from friends and an enthusiastic author, we have our first audio story ready for download. It’s a reading of Dorian J. Sinnott’s “The Hunger” from Digitally Disturbed. It’s read by our very own Random Fat Man on the Internet, Bill Otto, and is a dark tale of madness and the descent into something not quite human… Go and download it now! GO! HERE! LISTEN! But not in the dark. We are not responsible for you spilling your coffee if you get too spooked.

The Closet Anthology

We work with, and some of us are, LGBTQ+. Pride month was especially impactful to us this year with friends finally being able to safely come out and be who they are and who they want to be. We know that your voice in this is important and that LGBTQ+ authors and writers aren’t well represented. To that end, for Pride month next year, we’re doing a new anthology – The Closet. Go and check out the submission guidelines and see if you want to tell your story.

Other Anthology News

We still need a couple pieces for The Dream-Realms of Cthulhu, so we are extending the deadline to the end of this month.

Check out the guidelines and enjoy your extra time!

Conventions

We go to conventions sometimes. We do this to spread your fever dreams far and wide and to make the proper circles to summon the Great Old Ones.

I mean, for sales. Not the Great Old Ones. That’s silly. Who would want to control and summon the awesome POWER OF THE NAMELESS FROM THE BEYOND?! *lightning and thunder crashes*

Anywho, here are some of the conventions that are nearing that you can find Alban Lake at.

Representing Yourself and Alban Lake

So, conventions, right? They’re pretty fun. I mean, sure, they can be a bit overwhelming at times, but you get to meet new people, see new things, earn great new experiences and sell your own stuff if you’re lucky.

And we want to help you do that.

We can’t be everywhere. We’re cranky old people and travel is HARD. But some of you live in places that have conventions and perhaps you’d like to go, not only to sell your own book published by us, but to perhaps sell books by other authors here. You could make some money of your own, get your name out there, and ours as well. EVERYBODY WINS!

If you’re interested in learning more, want to learn how to better represent yourself, or are just curious about how to get into conventions, drop us a line at [email protected] or use the contact page to see other ways of getting ahold of us.

New Releases

Only one book is here this month but boy is it a good one!
