Our world has many myths and legends from dragons to gods. What if they were real? There are stars so distant that it would take light from our sun over one thousand years to reach them. What lands and creatures might be on planets orbiting that distant place?
Knights and dragons, warriors and mages, skilled pilots and charming scoundrels crossing the stars and escaping the alien laws that threaten to bind them. These are the stories, the lands, the nature of Frostfire Worlds.
Come along and explore the fantastic, the strange, and the Beyond with us.
What We Want
Frostfire Worlds publishes original short stories, poems, articles, and art. This is intended to be available to younger readers, so while it can be spooky and creepy, there should be minimal blood and absolutely no swearing. Frostfire Worlds deals with fantasy and sci-fi stories, generally with an adventurous nature.
Stories we’re looking for should have things like heroes fighting villains in a world of magic, cyborgs saving humans from the vacuum of space, and alien creatures flying between the stars.
We want strong plots and subplots if you need them, and great descriptives that draw the reader into the world you’ve created, as well as characters we care about and want to see win, even if they don’t always make in the end.
Edited by Jessica Sneeringer, this is a twice yearly anthology for readers of all ages published in May and November. Its format is hardbound with a color cover and b&w interior.
We recommend you check out our previous publications to get a better idea of what we’re looking for.
You can pick up older issues HERE.
Frostfire Worlds considers stories between 2,000 and 6,000 words long. We pay $10 for original stories, $5 for reprints. At most, we will publish one reprint per issue. Anything shorter than 2,000 words is considered flash fiction for which we pay $5. We are not interested in flash fiction reprints.
Frostfire Worlds considers poems of any length. We pay $3.00 for original poems. We are not interested in reprint poetry.
Frostfire Worlds considers color cover art and interior art (interior art will be published in b&w). We pay $10 for cover art, $5 for interior illustrations. We prefer art that suggests a story, rather than “portrait” art. If you have a gallery we can browse just send us the link and we’ll check it out and get back to you.
Frostfire Worlds considers articles, which includes reviews and interviews as well as essays having something to do with science, science fiction, or fantasy. We are not interested in summaries, or copies of information from the Internet. Pick a topic – science, fantasy, movie, book, or person [interview] – and tell us what you think about it.
Go into detail. If appropriate, cite examples. If you are doing a review, state your position on it. If you disliked something, say so. Be fair but be accurate. Reviews of movies do need to be timely.
We consider articles between 1,500 and 4,000 words long. We pay $10 for original articles.
In addition to the above payments, each contributor also receives one hard-back contributor’s copy of the issue in which their work appears.

If your submission does not include your contact information, Alban Lake Publishing reserves the right to delete your submission unread and without notifying you.
Please, do not put any fancy formatting into your submissions, such as adding your name, title and page number randomly throughout the story, headers and footers, or anything else that might take away from reading and editing. This is because it can cause problems with both reading and editing your submission. It is important to note that style is much different than the above, and centering certain parts, bold, or italicized type is acceptable. It takes a great deal of time to read and edit things properly, so if we see things like this Alban Lake Publishing reserves the right to delete your submission unread and without notifying you.
